A Family's Spiritual Shade

Extension 11 Ongwediva
Hello brothers and sisters, my heart is heavy as so far this month it seems as if there has been a death almost every other day. For most of the ones who have passed I am not worried because I do feel they are gone because they have finished the race. My sadness is for their loved ones left behind and for myself as I will miss them.

When I think about the ones who have recently gone home I am noticing a pattern. They were the shades or hedges of protection for their families. What I mean by this is simply, they were the ones who remained strong and steadfast in their faith for many years near the end. These people were the intercessors for their families standing tall on their knees in prayer over their families. Many family issues were squashed because of the shared love and respect for these prayer warriors.

Now that they are gone, who is left to stand on their knees in prayer over these families? I have seen the downward spiral that some families and households have taken when their spiritual shade was removed. Financial trouble like none other, illness, petty squabbles turning ugly and other maladies have plagued such families.

What we need to do is continue to encourage our loved ones to stay close to God, work towards doing His will and to stand firm on their knees in prayer for the family and for others. I firmly believe what James 5:16 says:
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." - NASB.

I watched this power message from Dr, Charles Stanley and I feel that it fits this message I have today. We need to take the position of the one(s) who will stand tall on our knees for our families and those we love.
